Cinnamon is a fragrant spice extracted from the bark of the Cassia tree, which grows wild throughout Asia. The Vietnamese variety is considered to produce some of the strongest and sweetest cinnamon in the world.
In Vietnam, people have been harvesting and trading cinnamon for over 400 years. Today they have added to this ancient tradition the craft of making beautiful, aromatic boxes from the cinnamon bark, a sustainably harvested and renewable resource. The trees are not damaged by this process. In fact, since the artisans in this cooperative make their living through good forest management, the environment benefits.
